Are you prepping your body for the movements you’re about to make with heavier loads? Before both squats and deadlifts i do a good amount of hip flexor stretching and warming up. Your hips (and psoas’ in particular) are responsible for handling a lot of the load in both the squat and deadlift, as they are both hinge movements. Your hips are designed to hold heavy weight! But if you are continually putting them under stress without prepping them, stretching, and releasing... pain is often a result. • Make sure you’re prepping your body for heavy lifts. Dynamic warmups are crucial, and if you’re experiencing hip pain or tightness, a tight psoas is often the culprit.
