🔥Curling in the squat rack is not a huge deal if you have a home gym. But, if you are at the gym in a shared space don’t take up a squat rack to do curls. Those squat racks are used for big heavy movements like squats which can’t be done many other places other than the racks. Those curls you want to do? They could be done in multiple places. The only thing you might miss out on is time. Whether it’s the eventual loss of the ability to reach parallel with the bar during a squat, the inability to activate the hamstrings and lower and hold the hips in position pre-deadlift or simply no longer able to keep a straight bar bath above your head during a shoulder press without tight lats forcing it forward. Everyone, at one time or another, has been guilty of basic mobility/flexibility neglect. But what happens when it goes too far? 😳 • First, let’s differentiate between mobility and flexibility. Mobility means the ability to move/be moved freely and easily and hold yourself stably in certain positions. Also described as the ability to voluntarily move a limb or joint through its full range of motion. Flexibility just means the ability to lengthen the muscle, which is improved with stretching. Imagine them like twin bullies in high school, they’re strongest when they’re together, but one without the other becomes weaker and more vulnerable ☝🏻 • An inflexible muscle can feel like an injury that only gets more painful the longer it’s untreated - until eventually, it becomes an injury. Generally speaking, if you can still move and use the muscle, it’s probably not an injury - it’s tight and NEEDS to be routinely stretched to get better. Although, people can be lazy and don’t like to do presume their pain is from their own fault or neglect, so self diagnose it as an injury 🚫 • Take 10 mins after a gym session every other day to stretch off the worked muscles, especially larger groups like the pectorals, hamstrings, glutes, quads and lats. I am so beyond exhausted but so happy. This is me at three very different stages in my life. I grew up heavy and never played a sport, never set foot in a gym until summer of 2013 when I decided I “didn’t want to be fat anymore”. My whole life, I was told “you have a pretty face” and I didn’t want to just have a “pretty face”.... I wanted to BE “pretty”. • Enter a crash diet where I lost 60lbs in 3 months by consuming 1000-1200 calories a day and then going on the elliptical and not getting off until my polar watch told me I burned 1000 calories (sometimes 90+ minutes). Everyone around me congratulated me and told me I looked great, but I felt terrible. I was blacking out, fainting, and losing hair. Eventually, I gave up and gained back the 60lbs I lost AND THEN SOME. • But then I found powerlifting, and the rapid weight gain stopped. I’ve pretty much hovered around a 10lb variance since I started powerlifting almost 3 years ago (minus one REALLY bloated raw nationals 😩). I stopped caring about what my body looked like and focused on what it could do. And I got pretty good at it. I gained some serious confidence, and started to care about my health and how I felt. • On Monday I started a nutrition plan from @rpstrength( #notspons, I’ve just heard great things from other athletes). I am mentally ready to get healthy this time, and I know this because how I look didn’t factor into my decision at all. I decided to get on a nutrition plan for structure, to eat for performance and to feel better overall. • I wasn’t really planning on sharing this with you all, but I realized there are people out there who may see this and realize they’re not alone. Selfishly, I also wanted to share this with you all because I know that I will have more success if I have support, and theres like 20k of you on here, which is a whole lot of support. Chtěl bych Všem moc poděkovat za podporu do mě vloženou. Za vaše přání na zítřejší závod. Těší mě, že je Vás tolik, co chce zítra přijít fandit do Přerova. Těší mě, že je Vás tolik, co chce zítra vidět vyhrát Českého lva... Zítra ve dvě to budu bojovat nejen za sebe, ale i za Vás! A společně to vyhrajeme! Pamatuji se, jak jsem před šesti lety přišel se snem vyhrát Mistrovství Světa. Taky si pamatuji, že tehdá to byl je bláhový sen. Nedej bože to Mistrovství uspořádat v Přerově.. Kdysi jsem koukal na video těch nejlepších a teď je mám tady doma a budeme spolu závodit v Přerově... A zítra ten sen přetavíme spolu ve skutečnost ! Buďte se mnou zítra ve dvě v Přerově!
