A little of this and a little of that today and a whole lot of rolling. _ This week brings a new schedule but I’ve managed to get in some quality, focused workouts. _ Worked on some cleans, front/back squats and finished with 4 back and 3 bicep movements. Ran intervals for a few then rolled because I have some serious glute, hamstring and lat knots 😒 _ Hope you have a great weekend and may it bring lots of fun stories come Monday 😉

A few pics I never posted from The Fort Games a while back. I almost placed last, but I still had a lot of fun at my first CrossFit competition. It made me realize how much I want to compete. I& #039;m excited to hopefully enter my first oly weightlifting mete later this year too. . . I& #039;m not satisfied with just getting a mediocre workout in or just having a general interest in fitness & nutrition. I want to compete in strength sports and CrossFit; I& #039;ve always had in interest in both. With having a passion comes limitations with being able to go further and progress. All the power clean and jerks today. First set was every :10 sec for 12 sets 1 rep. 2nd set was 2 touch and go reps every :20 sec for 6 sets and finally 3rd set was 3 touch and go reps every :30 sec for 4 sets. Weight was a nice 205# for all of these. TIGHT LOWER BACK YOUR SET-UP? . Similar to one of our previous posts, lifting from the floor can be tough sometimes, especially if you have tight hamstrings, lower back, or lack some mobility and/or flexibility. If a lifter continues to lift with a rounded lower back, it can disrupted the rhythm of the lift, mess with technique, and can lead to injury. Here is another variation you can perform that keeps your back safe and allows you to keep lifting with proper technique. . To perform, first find the lowest position you can set up while maintaining a proper arch in your lower back and flat upper-mid back. Second, set up either blocks or plates (shown in the video) so that the bar is at that height with plates on the bar. Third, snatch from this position. . Hope you like this one! Flex Friday lifting! On the road for work today so stopping in at #MidtownBarbell in Winnipeg. Snatch & CJ on the menu today. This new weight classes for Olympic lifting has be hungry to compete at 55kg now. Working hard now so I can make standards for nationals next year. Snatch 85% (62kg) and CJ at 85% (77kg).

Great Session Today! Hit my openers and even a second attempt Snatch for the @sandbarslam. 6 weeks out and 1 kilo shy of the new weight class. Dialing it all in now. Big shout out to @ctaber23programming and coaching. Its paying off. Also thanks to @nribaudofor letting me drop by. Love the set up and the culture. Again with the Push Ups! This time let’s go narrow w/ our hands and hit those triceps. * Don’t forget to keep the trunk and glutes tight. Focus on not going into lumber extension. Push the floor away from you and don’t let the elbows “flare”. Save your shoulders! * Follow @griffin_strengthfor more tips and training advice for the garage/solo athlete.

Ok... so maybe this has taken me 4 years to post.. lol this SHIZ AINT EAZY! •I’ve already made a post of how I got into fitness and lifting. I don’t think I’ve ever posted a progress pic.. mostly bc it’s not really who I am to post one but, I’ve always been extremely self conscious and doing this makes me really vulnerable. I’ve deleted every picture of myself from 3-4 years ago, bc I was so embarrassed, couldn’t even looked at myself, and didn’t want anything to with them. •I’ve been called everything from “fat” to “manly” especially when I was in high school I got bullied for being “fat”. Driving me to the point of suicidal thoughts and depression. I’m NOT saying this for ppl to feel bad for me, I’m saying this bc I’m being real. •This isn’t a day transformation or a magic pill. This is working my ass off for a FEW YEARS. Developing a better relationship with food and lifting heavy ass weights. •Yes, I ate doughnuts before this pic (LOL😹🍩) yes, I don’t have a shredded six pack. Yes, I don’t know to to pose or flex my left arm. 👀Lololol •I’m still trying to not see the person on the left when I look in the mirror. And love myself everyday. It’s not easy. But, nothing worth having comes easy, right? •I guess the point of this is, don’t be a fcking dick to ppl, work your ass off, be humble, and PROUD. 🏋🏼‍♀️Lifting weights is cool. 👸🏼Being a strong woman is even cooler. 💅🏼Lifting weights doesn’t make you manly. 👑Lifting weights is fcking empowering. 🏋🏼‍♀️

Every form of fitness and sports has a risk of injury and CrossFit is no different. Anyway, studies like these are important because we can see where people are breaking down in the gym and how to make our training safer for our athletes. ... Low back, shoulder and knee are the most common injuries in other strength sports like olympic lifting and powerlifting and looks like we have the same here. Shoulders are probably the biggest trouble area I treat on a regular basis. ... What do you guys think? Are these numbers accurate compared to what you see? I cried during my practice today. A few times. And this is one of those moments. And I& #039;m not showing this to you for you to feel for me, or to ask me what& #039;s wrong, or to do anything but understand something: these moments are common, especially in yoga. Because yoga is different... and when you& #039;re dealing with hard circumstances, or even when you& #039;re not, you can become so aligned and intune to your soul that you can just simply begin to cry. They don& #039;t tend to last long, mere moments sometimes, but I only see them as much needed therapy in a world that& #039;s typically so disconnected... and too embarrassed to be raw. If this happens to you, don& #039;t feel like something is off about your practice. Be grateful that you& #039;re actually more intune to yourself than before you began.

I cried during my practice today.

A few times.

And this is one of those moments.

And I'm not showing this to you for you to feel for me, or to ask me what's wrong, or to do anything but understand something: these moments are common, especially in yoga.

Because yoga is different... and when you're dealing with hard circumstances, or even when you're not, you can become so aligned and intune to your soul that you can just simply begin to cry.

They don't tend to last long, mere moments sometimes, but I only see them as much needed therapy in a world that's typically so disconnected... and too embarrassed to be raw.

If this happens to you, don't feel like something is off about your practice.

Be grateful that you're actually more intune to yourself than before you began.
