  • This week is Perinatal anxiety and depression week and the theme is “I wish I knew”
    .
I’ve been inspired by some beautiful friends to share a snippet of my story.
    .
What I’ve learnt through my personal experience is that “anxiety and depression” looks different on everybody and now more than ever I believe it’s important to share your stories to help other women out there who may be suffering silently.
    .
Although I have always struggled with anxiety I was grateful that my first pregnancy journey I avoided postnatal depression and quite honestly I wasn’t really aware that it existed.
    .
Fast forward 3 years later and my experience was quite different and to be honest it’s been quite humbling.
    .
During my second pregnancy I was quite sick and with my father passing away away when I was 5 weeks pregnant it made grieving with severe morning sickness worse. I felt immense guilt constantly not being able to be the best mum I could for my then 2 year old and felt bad for wishing my pregnancy to hurry up and be over, especially when I wanted it for so long. My mental health was already taking a down hill turn.
After welcoming Liv eathside I was looking forward to getting back into fitness because after 9 months off from feeling like crap I knew it would help my mental health.
At my 6 week postpartum check I was diagnosed with pelvic organ prolapse. I was told I could not resume my “normal” activities which is also my passion and career. I felt horrible physically, emotionally and mentally and with particular life circumstances it wasn’t long before I completely spiralled downhill. I didn’t realise at the time that what I was expecting was a form of depression until I had seeked help and spoke to someone. It was only then I could start to take action and some steps to help me feel better.
After feeling immense anger, frustration and sadness I have constantly said to myself.
“I wish I knew”. I spent a long time blaming myself and wondering how things could have been different. Acceptance is definitely a journey.
    .
I don’t share my story to ask for sympathy but to hopefully empower and let you know that if you are struggling you are not alone. โค๏ธ

  • HAPPY HUMPDAY ๐Ÿ‘

From where I’d rather be but currently sitting in an office looking at 2 computer screens.
I am grateful that I only need to work a 9-5 3 days a week as I have built my business to pay me a part time income however every day I sit in this office it gives me more determination and fire to build my empire bigger and to invest more quality time in my business.
I have goals so big they literally keep me up at night visioning my life living out my goals and aspirations and feeling the feelings of what it would be like to wake up each day living my goals out.
Dream big fam and hustle the crap out of yourself to get there ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ #spiritualaf

  • Disturbing.
    There& #039 ;s only word for it.
Today El Mercurio, a major mainstream national newspaper here im Chile published an article on how parents feed their kids incorrectly.
It said that & #039 ;breastfeeding at any moment of the day or to calm a child... can lead to fatter kids and increased risk of obesity& #039 ;.
    Ahem, say what?
Congratulations El Mercurio, you just set Chile back to the Middle Ages. Or hang on, breastfeeding rates were higher then.
In an age when we& #039 ;re desperate to increase breastfeeding rates this article is so disturbing.
    No... it& #039 ;s shameful.
And FYI the WHO points out that & #039 ;Breastfeeding appears to provide some level of protection against childhood overweight and obesity. Breastfeeding can... reduce the risk of overweight and obesity in children& #039 ;.
I was just boasting to a friend how Chile was so forward thinking and then I come across this. ๐Ÿ˜”
Thankfully this article is not representative of Chile.
Let& #039 ;s put this down to a single muppet.
Kind regards, a breastfed baby of perfect weight.
