  • Tea Tuesday! Holy shit, you guys! I got to see Metallica for the first time this weekend! They were killer. The two highlights were when they played One and Blackened. Both from And Justice For All, obviously. This album was my introduction to metal. I remember I was sitting there in my grandma’s guest room watching MTV2 and the video for One came on. I was enraptured, “what in the fresh hell is THIS?!” …then the second guitar solo hit and so did my jaw---on the floor. I immediately bought the CD, began learning all the guitar parts I could, and abandoned punk rock for good (I was bored of it, anyway). Metallica was fresh, challenging, and I was totally confounded by the main riffs in Blackened.

Speaking of Blackened, if tea leaves grow green, how do we get Black Tea? And how are there different colors of tea liquor?? The answer is oxidation—a breakdown caused by oxygen. Yeah, that same shit that turns your guacamole and bananas brown (and eventually black) is the thing that gives tea its varying colors and drastically changes its potential flavor. The oxidation process is started by macerating the leaves by means of rolling or tumbling. This can be done by either machine tumblers or by hand, shaking the leaves in shallow bamboo baskets. All of this is done to intentionally damage the cell walls within the tea leaves which is necessary to begin the oxidation process---like bruising a peach or banana. This oxidation also unlocks new compounds at a molecular level, so all kinds of fun stuff can potentially occur like bringing out theobromine content or controlling the ratio of theaflavins and thearubigins (Thanks for making me look smart, Google!) Once the tea masters feel that the leaves are oxidized sufficiently depending on what they’re trying to produce, they introduce heat to stop the process. So yeah, in Blackened, we have the lyrics, “agitation, violation, mutilation” and that roughly describes part of how tea is made.  Who would have thought??

  • Nome dell& #039 ;album: The There and Now
    Artisti: Architects
    Paese d& #039 ;origine:Regno Unito 🇬🇧
Genere: Metalcore,Hardcore Punk, Melodic Hardcore Punk
    Periodo: 2011
Canzone preferita : Learn to Live
#architects , #metalcore , #mathcore , #posthardcore , #hardcore , #metal , #progressivemetal , #alternativemetal , #metalhead , #learntolive , #heavymetal
