Following on from yesterday, Day 7 of #SpotYourDrishti is gazing to the right with a twist and is also know as parsva drishti. ↩️⬅️ .
    .
As mentioned yesterday, this gaze is considered to be two different drishti, depending on which side we are looking towards. Sideways to the right or left Parsva drishti is potentially more ambiguous than other drishtis, as “sideways” can be up for interpretation. Generally the sideways gaze follows the direction as the head, ie, upward, level, downward, etc. Practiced in twists such as my variation of malasana with side twist, revolved half moon, lunge with twist, or even in poses such as downward facing dog with a twist. With each of these poses the head is positioned differently, which makes it a very unique drishti indeed! ↩️⬅️ .

HOW TO DO CHEAT DAY THE RIGHT WAY by @muneeb.mash

Cheat day is everyone& #039 ;s favorite day of the week. But people use it as an excuse most of the time. There are certain things to keep in mind that people just forget.

If it& #039 ;s a cheat day, that doesn& #039 ;t mean cheat on your diet the whole day. It is a cheat day because this day you get to have 1 cheat meal, the rest of the day you& #039 ;re still eating healthy. So don& #039 ;t ruin your week& #039 ;s progress by eating pizza for breakfast, burgers and fries for lunch, and ice cream for dinner.

The technical term for cheat days is re-feed. So today you need to re-feed your body energy. So you should have lots and lots of carbs today. It gives you an excuse to have all your favorite sugary treats.

Even though it& #039 ;s a cheat day, you should still meet your daily protein requirement (1 - 1.5g / lb. BW). Simply doing that will make your cheat day a lot healthier.

Try to have cheat days on days you train big muscle groups like legs or sometimes back. The reason is because you will a lot of calories training those muscle. So have more calories that day won& #039 ;t have that much of a negative effect on you compared to if you took a rest day.

No more than 1 cheat day per week! If you& #039 ;re serious about fat loss then your nutrition has to be dialed in properly. You have to get back on track the next day to stay consistent.

    CUTTING CHEAT SHEET by @jmaxfitness
    📸 --> @jmaxfitness

Cutting is a beast of its own.

You& #039 ;ve probably even screwed it up yourself. You bulk up, then cut down to reveal your hard-earned muscle, only to be the same size that you started. It sucks. -
You want to hold onto that muscle, so here& #039 ;s how to cut properly:

Lift weights to build muscle and strength. If you& #039 ;re training to build muscle, you& #039 ;re not going to lose it when you cut.

Caloric deficit with high protein. You need to be losing weight (which is accomplished by a Caloric deficit), and you need to have high protein to make sure that the weight you lose is FAT instead of MUSCLE.

HIIT. If you& #039 ;re going to do cardio, do HIIT. Something like 15 seconds sprint with 1:45 rest will work well (go as hard as you can on the sprints).

Sleep. I have trouble sleeping when I& #039 ;m in a Caloric deficit, but sleep is anabolic. Pretend you& #039 ;re Han Solo in Carbonite and try to get at least 7 hours per night.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN BARBELL, DUMBBELL, AND MACHINE by @apfau
    📸 --> @apfau
    -
Everyone wants to know which is “best” between barbells, dumbbells, and machines. I hate describing anything as the best because like most things in fitness and in life, all three have benefits.
    -
Barbells are best for strength since it’s easiest to go heavy with them. Dumbbells are ok for strength too but they can be more difficult to use in lower rep ranges since it’s a struggle just to get them into the starting position. Most machines are a bit awkward to use in lower rep ranges but the right machine can be great in higher rep ranges.
    -
Barbells and dumbbells help build stabilizer muscles whereas machines do all the stabilizing for you. Your range of motion is a bit more natural with barbells and dumbbells since you are not locked into a straight path. Dumbbells can be helpful if you have uneven body parts since you can work each side evenly.
    -
Barbells are the most dangerous since you could hurt yourself on several exercises without a spot whereas dumbbells can be dropped if you fail. Machines are obviously the safest.
    -
All three have benefits and how you utilize all three will depend on your goals. A pretty good approach is to stick with mostly barbells for strength movements and incorporate dumbbells and machines in slightly higher rep ranges.

  • Nationals recap:

On Thursday I won the T2 74 class for the second year in a row. This was one of my worst performances, leaving the most on the platform.
    SQUATS-
    ⚪️ 220/440
    ⚪️ 210/463
🔴 217.5/480- bar rolled up my back, I will take this again some time soon

    BENCH-
🔴 145/320- Reds for jumping press command (you can see the center referees hand on the left)
🔴 145/320- Reds for soft elbows before start position. I don& #039 ;t understand why I was given a start command if this was the case
    ⚪️ 145/320
I have never come close to bombing out like this before. Instead of whining about calls I don& #039 ;t agree with, I will work to make my lifts undeniable and perfect.
    DEADLIFT-
    ⚪️ 227.5/502
    ⚪️ 235/518
    ⚪️ 242.5/535

Thank you @nickguarino75kg for competing against me bro. I know you didn& #039 ;t have the performance you wanted either. I can only hope we meet again on the platform and total at least 50kg more. I have a lot of respect for you and your handler @vin.kenmorebarbell and consider you guys brothers to me. For anyone reading who doesn& #039 ;t know, this meet could not have possibly been closer.
Thank you to my friend @huangster_lifts for handling me game day. I know without you this wouldn& #039 ;t have been possible. You and the guys @justin_choy @74kilos_of_tren @daybehh are some of the best friends I could ask for.
Shout out to @joeyflexx7 @ivweissenberg and @miketuchscherer for going along with giving me first bumps back stage. It was really awesome to see that such legends in our sport are such cool people. Couldn& #039 ;t have won without you guys lol

To everyone I met I had a lot of fun hanging out with you all. I sadly did not get any pictures. My favorite thing about this sport is the community and how cool every person in it is. This meet further reinforced that.
The biggest shout-out goes to my parents. They made it possible for me to get to Spokane as they& #039 ;ve done with all of my meets prior. Without them I couldn& #039 ;t have even shown up, thank you.

  • I get asked all the time if I should take a multi-vitamin. Most people don& #039 ;t need to take vitamin supplements and are able to get all the vitamins and minerals they need by eating a healthy balanced diet.

But here are a few I always recommend and why.

Vitamin D helps our bodies absorb calcium, which is important for bone health

Magnesium is an essential nutrient, which means that we must get it from food or supplements.

Calcium is great for building strong bones

Zinc supports our immune system and helps our body use carbohydrates, protein, and fat for energy

Iron increases energy, better brain function and healthy red blood cells
Folic acid will aid with depression and combats inflammation
Vitamin B-12 is like a factory made up of eight diligent workers who band together to create and sustain our body’s energy supply by breaking down the micronutrients we consume.

If you’re interested in changing your lifestyle DM me and let me help you.
