  • It was so wonderful to come home and especially to some rain which we really needed. It really cleaned the air and nourished all the plants and flowers. Our bodies need plenty of water as well. We are made up of approximately 60% water. It is vital for many functions in our body. Some key ones are provides energy, boosts immune system and provides brain power. It also flushes out toxins, maintains regularity and improves complexion. Sure you staying hydrated makes for more bathroom visits, but your body will be more efficient and healthier. 😊🌧❤️

    Been trying harder lately to produce better quality content, more creative shots and better editing. Things like this do take a lot of time but it’s worth it when you see shots come out they way you wanted them to. Plus enjoying the process of shooting and editing helps as well. Always strive to make improvements with not only your methods to achieve your physique goals, but in other aspects of your life as well(i.e. creating content)

    Roasted Pumpkin, Fennel & Peach Salad⠀
    (via Green Kitchen Stories blog) ⠀
    1 Kent/Japanese pumpkin (keep skin and seeds)⠀
    2 + 4 tbsp cold-pressed olive oil⠀
    4 tbsp honey⠀
    2 limes, juice⠀
    sea salt and black pepper⠀
    2 handfuls almonds⠀
    4 peaches, stone removed and cut into wedges⠀
    2 fennels, finely sliced, fronds reserved⠀
    1 large head of lettuce, leaves separated and torn into bite-size pieces⠀
    Preheat the oven to 220°C.⠀
    Cut the pumpkin into large squares, leaving the skin on and seeds intact. Place skin side down, on a baking tray. Drizzle with 2 tbsp oil, cover evenly and sprinkle with sea salt. Roast the pumpkin in the oven for 30-45 minutes, until the pieces are very soft and the tips are slightly burned. Combine 4 tbsp oil, honey, lime juice, then season to taste with sea salt and pepper. Taste the dressing and adjust the flavours to your preference. Transfer the roasted pumpkin pieces to a bowl and pour over half of the dressing (save the other half for the salad) and toss gently. While the oven is still warm, toast the almonds on a baking tray until golden, about 10 minutes.⠀
    Prepare the salad ingredients. In a large bowl, gently toss peaches, fennels and lettuce. Add the remaining half of the dressing and combine. Arrange everything on a platter. Then tuck in the roasted pumpkin pieces, scatter with almonds and sprinkle with fennel fronds. Serve + enjoy! ⠀

  • Listening to your body is the MOST important thing you can do to live a healthy lifestyle! And it’s really important to understand this!

    Here is my first tip on how to learn to listen to your body ⬇️💗
    No. 1: Start to take note of your warning signs. Ever feel like you’ve had sleepless nights or lack of energy? How about feeling bloated or breaking out? Our bodies send us warning signals when they are beginning to feel upset. To fix these things, figure out what your body is craving! Destress and drink some tea for a better night sleep. ☕️😌 Read a book (especially in bed, it helps to tire your eyes!). 📖
    Increase your energy by stretching, restricting your sleep schedule (this is a BIG one. Try to stay within 8 hours of restful sleep!) 🛌, limit (or eliminate 😉) alcoholic beverages 🍹, avoid smoking 🚬, & lighten your load!📚
    Bloating can have many reasons as to why it happens. (Ladies am I right? 🤷🏻‍♀️) But learning what’s easier for your body to digest can really help with this issue! Stay away from sugar alcohols, high saturated fatty foods, and decreasing sodium intake (which by the way is huge bc you may be mistaking bloat for water retention 💦). Always remember to chew & swallow (you’d be surprised on how many people skip the whole chewing thing...😂). Don’t eat too fast! Take your time, it ain’t going anywhere! 🍪
    Breaking out? Simple carbohydrates like refined sugars found in sodas, cookies and candies cause insulin levels to spike and create a wave of inflammation throughout the body. This then causes the breakdown of collagen and elastin, which give your skin elasticity & strength. So refined sugars take in a pretty big part. Sometimes people find that lactose can also be an issue for their skin. Try going dairy-free for a month and see what happens!
