- A couple of things have been on my mind lately. If you follow my stories then you kinda know...
Firstly, it’s been 2 years since I had my last baby. I have trained at or above my maintenance the entire time. I am not stage lean, I am probably even a little soft for some people’s taste but I still have not built the quality and quantity of muscle that I want to even think about the cutting phase (but I keep thinking it’s time and it’s not) Ladies, 2 years! You are not going to build muscle in 12 weeks, it takes years. I am disheartened by the fact that I see too many women cut too soon. I get the pull to be lean, I second guess myself all the time, but nothing worth keeping ever comes easy. So stay with me in the building phase for a while.
Secondly, I wonder if I wasn’t doing things right the last 2 years, and for that I am somewhat regretful. I don’t feel this time was wasted because I learned a lot and I grew a lot but I think I would be further in my muscle gains if I had just done my research sooner. I knew in my heart that I was doing too much volume and junk reps, but the desire to be lean clouded my judgement. I had to lose the baby weight and although I knew better I convinced myself it would work. I was wrong.
I am not saying I don’t have muscles, I am not saying my hard work was for naught but I am saying I have not built the muscle that I want for me and it’s time to recommit.
I need to hold myself accountable on here to eat the food, to gain the weight, and to trust that in time I will be ready to cut and have those beautiful thick muscles I desire. I need to stay in the lane and not waffle, and apparently that is hard for me.
