  • Gentlemen, this post probably won’t interest you!
Ladies, can we talk about perimenopause for a minute? What is perimenopause, you ask? It’s the change before the change. It can start as soon as 10 years before menopause. TEN YEARS! This is when our estrogen levels can start to slowly drop, and our risk for health co Dorian’s such as osteoporosis and heart disease start to increase.
Some symptoms of perimenopause are: • hot flashes
    • breast tenderness
    • worse PMS
    • lower sex drive
    • fatigue • irregular periods
    • vaginal dryness
    • mood swings
    • trouble sleeping
    • forgetfulness • weight gain (due to decreasing estrogen) .... there are more, but you get the idea.
What can help? Regular exercise!! Trade regular cardio for HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), and if you haven’t already, add weight lifting at least 3 times a week. And remember to stay active throughout the day. Take the stairs, walk when you can (rather than drive) and avoid sitting for long periods. Also, diet! Eats lots of healthy fats (avocado, salmon, tuna, nuts...), increase your protein (eggs, lean meat, fish...) and clean up your diet completely. (No more junk food, processed food, sugar, deli meats...) Message me if you want to know more!

  • I was short on time tonight. So instead of my usual 60 minutes It was 30. Something is better than nothing, right? This is why I love my home workouts. I can choose from 2,000 workouts based on time and what I feel like doing- dancing, kickboxing, lifting, cardio, you name it. #myhomegym

  • Cardio, bands, and pelvic floor strengthening
    .
@pamela_rf 10 minute non-stop cardio 30 seconds each move. Great warm up!
    .
@relentlessjake Relentlessfit365.com 45 minutes of Circuit Training plus core finisher. Circuit Training was cardio plus strength moves using bodyweight, resistance bands, and light dumbbells. 10 total different moves on a 60:20 then 45:15 and then 30:10 tempo. A core finisher of 5 different moves on a 30:10 tempo. And a special 95 second silent high plank hold for Stan Lee💙 I was so sweaty from the workout and I was shaking after the long high plank hold!
    .
@bjgaddour Double Resistance Band workout. 10 different moves using a medium/light band and a heavy band on a 60:20 tempo. I did one round as my finisher. The burn was crazy!🔥
    .
This evening, I completed Linda& #039 ;s @barlates_body_blitz Pelvic Floor strengthening exercises. It was about 28 minutes of practice. So much gratitude to Linda for publishing this video. Being over 40 and after having 3 kids, my pelvic floor has gotten weak. I generally forget to practice these exercises. This was a great reminder and very helpful🙏💙

Consistency trumps intensity. Show up, work within yourself, go home and repeat. This is where progress is made, not with the occasional over the top effort.

    See you in the gym.

  • Forged Strength
  • It looked simple on paper.
.. I was wrong, but it hit all the gears just right and resulted in 30 minutes of solid work and load of volume. ..
    1. Get up
    2. 12 snatches
    3. 5 windmills
    4. Get-down
    5. Switch sides and repeat.
    **Control your breathing and stay

  • SHOOT FOR THE STARS!

When we are little we are often told to shoot for the stars. You can be whatever you want to be when you grow up. But then somewhere along the way the story changes. Your grades aren& #039 ;t good enough, you aren& #039 ;t smart enough, you are too quiet, there is no way you can ever do that.
Why is that? Why do we do that? Is it because we are jealous of what other people may achieve if they actually go for their dreams? Well, I am a dreamer. I have always had big dreams, but I have let what other people think, get in the way of making my dreams a reality. Until now!
My mom used to tell me, when you turn 40 you begin to live. You stop caring as much about what other people think. I am not sure if it actually has to do with age, or if it is just circumstantial. Chances are, by the time you are 40 you would have gone through "some stuff". So now that I am the ripe ole age of 44, and have gone through "STUFF", I have learned that someone else& #039 ;s opinion of me is none of my business so I should just keep going.
Now I am on a mission. Not just getting in shape and staying fit, but a mission to help others to gain their confidence back, and to encourage others to follow their dreams.
This shy girl, who often sat on the sideline now has the confidence to step out and shoot for HER stars.
    Interested in joining me?
I invite you to learn more this Friday as some “stars” in the business share what it takes to take the leap and go for your dreams.
Reach out to me and I will share the link with you to join.

  • Transformation Tuesday, No, I never had a weight problem, but I threw myself into working out when I lost my mom 4 years ago. I did it to conquer my fear of getting on a stage, it took me 6 months of strict nutrition and learning how to bring the muscle out from underneath. I got on stage at 50 years old. Now at 55 I’m stronger, wiser, somewhat smarter than I was at 50. I didn’t want to be called olive oil anymore, now it’s become my mental therapy to escape the reality I’ve had to deal with. The gym keeps me focused and my mind clear. If you need a break get to the gym and if you live in #Cincinnati come to @atthelb for some great classes, they never disappoint.
    Clear your mind, and remember #bekindalways #cincinnati #workout #fitmom #over50 #55 #gymtherapy #gymmotivation #gymrat #freetherapy #fitover40 #fitover50 #itsonlyanumber #gains #staystrong and yes I eat a lot, carbs are my friend and I’m a stronger version of my 50
