  • I LOVE seeing my products in action! How adorable is this wanted poster from my Fairy Tales, Folk Tales, and Fables Unit that @thecurioushippo did with her kiddos? That wolf looks too cute to be bad. 😂 Check out her Instagram to see some of the great activities included in this unit. The product link is in my profile right now.

I still have a few more days of my fairytale unit to go but I wanted to hop on here and share a great resource from @thethinkingteacherstoolbox 😊
Her Fairy tales, folktales, and fables resource is packed full of a variety of activities!
As we read a fairy tale, folktale, or fable we fill out the getting-to-know-you fairy tales pages! This activity generates great story device discussions about good and evil characters, story settings, animals acting like humans and more!
We used one of her Venn diagram pages to compare and contrast two similar stories the Blackbird and the peacocks with the vain jackdaw. We discuss the moral of the story with the Tortoise and the Hare. We talked about culture tales by contrasting two different stories from two different countries! We had a great discussion about how one character can be in many stories, like the Wolf was in many stories that we read, but he wasn& #039 ;t always the same. Then, we filled out a wanted poster for the wall and wrote a story about a wolf who is not big and bad!! .
This week we will be contrasting the two stories of Anansi that we read and finishing up our Fairy tale unit with the roll a story activity ...all provided in her pack!! There are so many options to use this pack!

  • Kolkata
  • Winter, my favourite season.

Like everything else, winter too isn& #039 ;t the same for different places and different people.
For me, here in Kolkata, I love all the warmth that surrounds me despite the cold. I love the winter sun. I love all the chocolates and cakes that come with Christmas. I love the extra snuggles it brings me. Just the basic laziness it brings. The surroundings seem to grow pale and any brightness nearby just pops out. You can wear as many warm clothes to keep away the chill.
Winter brings a lot of good memories for me. Well, good and bad. But somehow, looking back, even the bad ones don& #039 ;t seem that bad. I miss my school cardigan. My blazer. I miss the girls complaining about the chill against their bare legs despite the school providing for trousers.
I miss actually being excited about Christmas. Not because of the good lunch dad would treat us to. But because of the anticipation for Santa& #039 ;s gift this year. I miss fussing over the decorations. I miss not finding singing carols & #039 ;lame& #039 ;. I miss the Annual School festival we had during winter.
Winter means exams. And the thrill of sneaky whispers during the exam. Or discussing everyone& #039 ;s marks after.
Winter means hot pea kachori. Cauliflower samosa. Mom forcing oranges down my throat. Winter means my brother coming back home for the holidays. And long phone calls under the blanket.
Winter means pretty flower exhibitions. Saraswati puja (Bengali valentine& #039 ;s day) i.e. looking like a mess in a saree because that& #039 ;s the only time in the year I wear that. Winter means experimenting with layers and beanies and cute socks. Letting go of your cardigan for a friend (even better if you& #039 ;re on the recieving end). Winter is hiding your face in your fluffy muffler.
    Clumsy attempts at baking.
Winter means picnics and fun outings with friends and family.
I just, I love this season so much. This winter is going to be different. I& #039 ;m not with my school anymore. I don& #039 ;t have the same people around me. And things aren& #039 ;t going exactly as good for me now. But I wish I have a good winter. Sad or happy. I just hope I make memories.
