  • We are so excited to announce our newest project the “Upton House” is a 1950’s beach bungalow. It is across the street from the marina, walking distance to the beach and Gulfport’s Historic Waterfront Arts District. Stay tuned for pictures of this fun project! #renovation #Gulfport #beachbungalow #coastalzen #wharrenhomes

  • I saw Island Bay man Stavros Kyriakades making this little beauty yesterday. What he says about his practice is, “I’m just going with the flow & all of a sudden something happens.” His sculptures don’t last long. There are people who get so pissed off they seek them out & kick them down. In a way, this itself is elemental - like the surging tide or striking wind that also take their toll. Stavros claims that for every one of his sculptures that gets kicked over he goes out & chucks up 2 more in it’s place. And maybe that’s all part of the wider practice, its psychological or even conceptual underpinning? Creation, aggression, retaliation? Serenity built from hostility. (And btw, imagine if there was no reaction to his hardened creativity - the whole coastal Reserve would be like someone’s cluttered garage with bits of half-assembled engine everywhere.) #rockman #stickman #balanceman #southcoastwellington #conceptualart #tippingpoint #coastalzen
