  • Eden’s Orthopedic Assessment test for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome (TOS). ✨
    -
Eden’s test is for Costoclavicular Syndrome version of TOS. ✨
    -
The client pushes the chest out (anteriorly) as he pulls his shoulder girdle back (posteriorly), as if he is standing in front of a commanding military officer. ✨
    -
For this reason, Eden’s test is also known as Military Brace Position. ✨
    -
Eden’s decreases the size of the costoclavicular space by bringing the first rib forward toward the clavicle and the clavicle back toward the first rib, hence testing for Costoclavicular Syndrome (“cost” means rib). ✨
    -
There are three other versions of TOS: Anterior Scalene Syndrome, Pectoralis Minor Syndrome, and Cervical Rib Syndrome. ✨
    -
TOS is a neurovascular compression syndrome in which the brachial plexus of nerves and/or the subclavian artery / vein are compressed, causing symptoms into the upper extremity. ✨
    -
I have many many video lessons on TOS on Digital COMT, my continuing education video streaming subscription service for manual therapists and movement professionals. ✨
    -
Digital COMT has more than 1,000 video lessons and I add seven new video lessons each and every week! 😊

  • 30 DAYS OF SELF-CARE INSPIRATION! Day 17 - Do One Thing Today That You Have Been Putting Off! We often procrastinate and tell ourselves that we are too busy to get something done. Usually it’s because we would prefer to do something else instead. Today try to empower yourself to get at least one of those things done, reprioritize and reorganize your day to make it happen, ask for help if you need to, and acknowledge your success in accomplishing it once it’s complete. Allow yourself to be inspired to ride the momentum and keep knocking out more tasks! #geterdone #selfcare #selfcareinspiration

As a lot of you may know, I
am currently a student of TCM and I’m specializing in acupuncture, clinical
massage and moxibution. I just finished
my first internship in the best hospital of Guangzhou and I would like to share
with you some useful information about preventing and treating diseases, how to
replace some western medicals with Chinese herbs, anti-aging and beauty tips
and lots of other interesting and useful information.
I would like to start with introducing
benefits of clinical massage to you and some tips of how to pay attention to
your posture and get rid of neck and back pain.
So Chinese Clinical massage is known as Tuina.
Mostly it is used to treat our spinal problems. The best concept of TCM is that we look at the human body as a whole, it means that every part of our body is correlated. Little did we know that our neck pain can be caused by the problem of our lumbar vertebra (ex. back pain), so as our back pain can cause problems of our cervical vertebra (neck pain) and so on. It is very important to check your whole spine before the treatment, to get rid of your symptoms completely and reduce a chance of relapse.
Some of the common problems that we have
    with the spine are:
The misplacement of one or more vertebras,
misplacement of the intervertebral disk, spinal curves, which create pressure on our nerves and blood vessels so we can have such symptoms as numbness of limbs, dizziness, headache, back pain etc. It can even cause the pain in your knee joints and create symptoms very similar as when you have a heart
dysfunction (losing breathe, fast heartbeat, slow heartbeat, heartache etc.) It can be caused by misplacement of your thoracic vertebra, but with symptoms like these, it is very important to check your heart and blood pressure first, make
sure they are not caused by heart dysfunction!! In case you having heart pain and you can’t find the cause, it might be the problem of your vertebra. Our concept of treatment is to release the tension in the muscles and after we use some traditional techniques to let the vertebras go back to its place and get rid of all of the symptoms.(swipe left to continue reading)

  • As massage therapists we have to know when to treat and how to treat when clients present with injury. This is a slip and fall accident that hasn’t been diagnosed yet. I assessed her mobility and she had difficulty with some movements, so instead of manual therapy I taped her shoulder to help with pain reduction and recovery. #bewellfit #donoharm #safepractice #thesehandscreate #clinicalmassage
