  • Today is one of those days. One of those days that I’m struggling to feel productive. I feel like I’m spinning my wheels. I want so much but feel like I don’t know the next step to get there. As easy as it is let those days run you over, but I refuse to do that today. I am going to put one foot in front of the other and I’m going to end the day feeling like my steps are going forward.

    Once I got motivated and into & #039 ;my office& #039 ; I got excited! I am planning out the next few months of my business!! There are some EPIC ideas floating around in my brain today for my customers and coaches!💡 This is the time of year where it really counts!!!   • With Thanksgiving around the corner, I thought I& #039 ;d share how creating Gratitude Lists truly changed my life. .

    I was two years into my NYC life and not where I wanted to be. My dream of becoming a successful artist seemed like a distant fantasy. I was all out of antidotes, and out of faith.

    I was seeing a therapist at the time and she recommended a six-week workshop to attend. I was working two part-time jobs while juggling writing and performing and I "didn& #039 ;t have the money" to pay for this course. I barely had the money to pay for a therapist.
    So, naturally... I said thanks but no thanks.

    She wouldn& #039 ;t give up.

    I put the course on a credit card knowing I could cancel after just one week.

    This course changed my life in every. single. way.

    I& #039 ;ve touched on this before but that course shifted my perception around everything in my life.
    And the most significant way was starting gratitude lists (which I now call Appreciation Lists... ;-) We were a group of twelve women and every morning we shared our gratitude lists with each other.
    I would open my inbox and receive wonderful messages of joy, of vulnerability and it always inspired me to share more of what I was grateful for.

    I had no idea at the time that the majority of my focus was on what WASN& #039 ;T working in my life. And when you put your focus on what "isn& #039 ;t working" you just get more of that.

    The practice of asking myself, What am I grateful for right now got me to shift my thinking about my life. I realized I have SO MUCH to be grateful for.

    Eight years later, I send my "Appreciation Lists" to myself. I keep a separate folder in my gmail account for these special lists. It has helped create a habit of seeing the world through gratitude, rather than lack.

    People always say to me, "you& #039 ;re so positive"...and I always think I have worked hard to change the way I see and perceive the world. It never came easy.

  • We have all heard the story of the dog sitting on the porch moaning and groaning day after day. Howling and whimpering. A curious man asks the owner why the dog is making such noises of pain only to find out that the dog is sitting on a nail but refuses to move because the pain just isn’t bad enough yet.

    We aren’t much different than that dog. Our “nail” might be a few extra pounds, a sidestitch after a small amount of exercise, having to catch your breath after a flight of steps or being a spectator at the family swim party instead of enjoying the water. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
    Minor inconveniences and all easy to dismiss as such, however, what will it take for you to “move off of the nail”?

    I rationalized all of this. I figure I’d just suck it in while swimming with the family. Or keep my body under water. I tried to do activities with the kids that didn’t require tons of energy (sad I know). I did everything I could to avoid exercising for longer than short bursts and made every excuse you can think of as to why my weight was where it was “I’m mostly muscle and muscle is more dense”—— yeah I told myself that...

    The point is, you’re most likely sitting on some kind of nail right now. You may be the only one that knows it and it may only be a minor nuisance at specific times, but the longer you ignore it the bigger hole it’s going to make. Don’t let a nuisance become a wound.

    Get honest with yourself and make a change. You don’t need to do it overnight but take the first step. Nothing is going to be able to stop you once you make up your mind!
