  • I’ve been sick the last week and this really helped. Turmeric is becoming an essential for my tummy issues. Turmeric is an anti inflammatory , increases bile production and reduces bloat and gas which if you have tummy issues you want reduced. Nothing worse than eating and having your tummy inflate and deflate painfully. I added collagen for gut health and repair. #glutenfree #draxe #draxerecipes #guthealth #healthybody #sibodiet #ibs

  • I’ve already professed my love for mediterranean food on here, but in case you haven’t heard already; I L O V E mediterranean food.🤩🥙
    .
    .
For that reason, I enjoy recreating mediterranean inspired recipes at home with minimal effort & fresh ingredients. 👩🏻‍🍳 .
    .
Here’s my balanced twist on a classic: tzatziki. Follow along for the ingredients & step by step:👇🏼
    .
    .
    •1/2 cup of plain whole greek yogurt 🍶 •1-2 cloves of freshly grated garlic •1/2 grated cucumber 🥒 •Lemon juice or vinegar 🍋 •Salt & pepper 🧂 •Freshly minced cilantro/dill/mint 🍃
    .
    .
Instructions: grate the cucumber and squeeze all of the liquid out using your hands or a colander. Mix the yogurt with the rest of ingredients & give it a taste. The longer it sits in the fridge and marinates, the flavor gets even better! Serve with crudité, pita, as a sandwich spread, salad topping... 🥣

Give this deliciously simple recipe a try & let me know how it goes! -TBB.⚖️👩🏻💕 #thebalancedbrunetterecipes

since I underwent a laparoscopic oophorectomy. In non-medical terms it means my right ovary was surgically removed because I had a cyst the size of a grapefruit. •
Leading up to this point I had been in a constant rotation of doctor visits, urgent care, emergency room visits, put on pain killers, been told my pain was rooted in possibly overworked muscles for two years. •
Yes, two years of not getting any answers, no further investigation, being met with dismissive responses or to juggle trying different drugs to basically put a bandaid on my pain. •
It was actually a doctor in triage, she was a woman of color who saw me and acknowledged my pain. It was that doctor that ordered an x-ray that then led to an ultrasound onto a CT scan and what do you know there was the grapefruit mass sitting right on top of my ovary. •
This date changed my life experience forever. I now call it my blessing in disguise because it forced me to face the fact that I had been conditioned to have a “set it and forget it” mindset about my reproductive health. I had been on hormonal birth control for six years and thought I was doing the responsible thing. •
And you know what I was trying to survive in my 20s and that’s okay. Me in my 30s has learned to forgive me in my 20s because she did the best she could with what she had. •
After this fateful day, I decided to stop using hormonal birth control after doctors gave me an unease response of “eh it’s possible the pill could’ve made the cyst grow”. I took control of my reproductive health and body because I needed to know how to best support myself. •
As of today I’ve had 43 hormone-free cycles and counting. That was the best decision I could’ve made for my health. I’m not a spring chicken anymore and I’m okay with that because those experiences led me to empower you to take control of your reproductive health. •
So if you find yourself feeling tired of the bullsh*t too and then be sure to sign up to my newsletter for the no bullsh*t approach so you can start taking control today. Tell me what you would like to learn more about for 2019 and be on the lookout for my services next year!
