  • Here’s an exercise that should be included in everyones lower body regimen. The @the_muscle_doc talks about the true “functional movement” being this lunge pattern considering the evolutionary importance of our gait cycle (literally putting one foot in front of the other and walking) and the subtle complexity of this motor pattern. Similarly with his logic on this, I’ve found that walking lunges expose any of my inabilities to stabilize my body while momentarily balancing on one foot and train the hell out of deep hip flexion on the working leg. IMO, no other exercise, except maybe front squats, give me as much of a global lower half stimulus nor stimulate leg development as well as lunging

  • I see work life balance as being a little like a pendulum swinging back and forth rather than a set of scales you can balance. But sometimes it does tend to swing in one direction far too much! Fitness is one way for me to bring it back - but with long days at work, a baby and dark evenings it’s hard. Trying a new class has helped me find some more motivation. That, along with a class that is very focused on form, has meant I can be more efficient in my workouts.   • Does anyone else feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day to get everything done?? I mean, seriously!
    .
    I’m not a terribly organized person and I often have the attention of a goldfish, so to compensate for my ability to stay on track, I make to-do lists, the problem is, I write EVERYTHING down, and there just isn’t time to check them all off.
    .
    This has been such an ongoing problem for me, so I started writing my to-do lists in a different way.
    .
    First- I write out all of the things I want to get done throughout the day.
    Second- I highlight the top 3 things that MUST get done ASAP.
    Third- I get my booty moving and get the stuff done! A list is no good if you’re just looking at it! Then, when I’ve accomplished my top 3 MUSTs, I feel great about what I’ve actually completed and I might even keep going with the momentum and pick my next 3 things!

  • Wow it’s cold out there! It may feel like it’s mid January with these temps, but it’s actually only mid-November! 😬 On my run some teenager was wearing shorts while walking to school which was a little odd, but whatever 🤷🏼‍♂️ Anyways, I felt fine during this run all bundled up. I wanted to get the run in earlier to try for 7 but I woke up later than I wanted and my morning coffee routine took longer than usual 😒 Still glad to get those 5 miles though. Have a great day friends!
